Woman struck by lightning while swimming off Tybee Island

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) — A swimmer was hospitalized after being struck by lightening on Tybee Island.

According to the city of Tybee Island, a female swimmer was struck by lightning around 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The incident occurred in the water near 17th Street.

The woman’s condition is unknown, the city said.
