The Italian potato omelette: a surprisingly simple dish with a unique taste

Along with paella, the potato omelette (“tortilla de patata”) is perhaps one of the most representative dishes of Spanish cuisine, known as much for its taste as for all the variations that can be made. Today we propose another idea, which takes some liberties on the original recipe, while keeping its flavor intact.

Its realization is incredibly fast and well adapted to the less experienced hands. The result? Too good… judge for yourself!

Here are the ingredients needed to prepare an omelette

500 grams of potatoes

extra virgin olive oil

150 g of flour

1 egg

100 grams of ham

100 grams of cheese

salt and pepper

Are you ready? Let’s start!

Boil the potatoes well, peel and mash them. Add the egg, salt and pepper to taste.

Then add the flour and continue to work the mixture until you obtain a malleable mass.

Divide the mass in half and crush to form two discs. Put one in a greased pan and top with ham and cheese. Then cover with the other.

After cooking one side, flip the omelet over with a plate and cook the other side. The omelet is ready!

That’s it! Watch the video below to see all the preparation… It’s a breeze, right?
